The Short Version
CrosswordWise has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name, email, or any personal information to print or play a crossword. Your puzzle progress and timer are saved in your own browser, on your own device, and never sent to our servers.
What We Collect
We use Google Analytics to count visits in aggregate — which pages are popular, roughly where visitors come from, and how the site performs. This data is anonymized and cannot identify you. If we run ads, our advertising partners may set cookies to measure and personalize ad performance; see the advertising section below.
Local Storage
When you play a crossword online, the letters you type, your timer, and your solved count are stored in your browser's local storage so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off. This information stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is cleared whenever you clear your browser data.
Advertising
CrosswordWise is free because of advertising. We may serve ads through Google AdSense or similar partners. These partners may use cookies (including the Google advertising cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the DAA opt-out page.
Children's Privacy
Many of our puzzles are made for classrooms and young solvers. CrosswordWise is a general-audience site that does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not require accounts, do not collect names or emails, and treat children's content pages under the applicable limited-ads settings of our advertising partners. If you believe a child has provided personal information on this site, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Choices
You can browse with cookies blocked and the site will keep working — printing and playing never require them. You can clear your saved puzzle progress by clearing site data in your browser. Analytics can be blocked with any standard content blocker without affecting the site.
